Fluffy Friends

If there's one thing to know about me, it's that I'm crazy about pugs. I love them so much that I got two furry troublemakers of my own!

Everyone, meet Tbone and Churro!

I love pugs because whenever I look at one, I just can't help but laugh. I don't know what it is about them. Their pudgy bodies, wrinkled faces, head-tilting skills, curly cinnamon roll tails, or even their pig-like snorts. I can't put a finger on my favorite characteristic because I love them all!

The minute I turn around, I always find them pulling off silly antics like this.

They make such fun companions. I love bringing them out every weekend because they're magnets for smiles. People often stop to take photos of them and pet them. Kids run up to them immediately to play with them. The best part is that they love all the attention.

Always looking for trouble, or food.... or both.

From the very start, I've trained them to be sociable so that when people approach them in malls or parks, they get the same instant positive vibe that they give me. I enjoy sharing all the joy especially when people compliment their cute outfits. What most people don't know is that although pugs have a full body of fur, they're quite sensitive to the cold and heat of their surroundings. In air-conditioned places especially, they get the sniffles quickly if they don't layer up. There's a great solution to that though. It's that very reason that I get a valid excuse to dress them up in all sorts of adorable, funny costumes! Pugs are one of the most approachable and easy going breeds out there, so dressing them up is no problem at all. Aside from keeping them protected from the cold, all their clothes make them look like real life stuffed toys!

Matching tutus for balle--err eating contests?

I love Tbone and Churro so much that I take them with me whenever I can. On the off chance that they can't travel though, I've managed to pull off a quirky alternative.

We made it to Legoland! Now, where's the food?

I've printed out this small picture of them to so that we'd always be together whenever I traveled! I miss them a lot when we aren't together, so this photo instantly reminds me of them. It makes for a unique souvenir photo op, even though I get weird looks from other tourists and locals wondering about what I'm doing hahahaha!

Of course, nothing beats being together and taking the most memorable selfies! And with the OPPO F3, being a #SelfieExpert is a breeze!

With amazing specs like a 16-megapixel front and rear camera, and an 8-megapixel wide angle camera, taking selfies have never been this fun! And no, you didn't read wrong. There really are TWO front-facing cameras! Now there's no reason for you to miss out on the perfect selfie or two or three because aside from the impressive camera specs, this lightweight phone packs a mighty punch with its' 64gb internal storage! And if that isn't enough for you, a 128gb expandable memory is available as well.

You know when people say that their phone's memory storage is full and you go and check their phone only to find out that it's full of their pet's photos? Well I'm proud to say that I'm one of those people! Crazy pug ladies unite hahaha! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a couple more gigabytes worth of Tbone's and Churro's squishy faces to fill up on.

P.S. If you can't get enough of Tbone and Churro, you can follow them online!

Luna: Specialty Coffee

If there's one thing I love, it's discovering new places to dine at. My go-to places are small, residential-business mixed, (usually) low traffic streets like Maginhawa or Kapitolyo (and even Aguirre if we're in the area). There's a good slew of establishments hidden along those long concrete sidewalks. Fort's usually a busy place, where food is expectedly a bit pricier. We didn't imagine finding a new coffee place to try that day, but the exteriors were just too sleek and inviting, so we gave it a shot.

That small quirky patch of turf at the entrance drew
us in even more. Details, man.

8Cuts: Meat Our Blends

A couple of weeks back before my trip of a lifetime to Barcelona, 8Cuts surprised me with a dinner for me, my folks, and my boyfriend Mykee. We've always loved 8Cuts. We started going to Burger Bar in Greenbelt when it first opened alongside Namnam, and now we happily dine at 8Cuts whenever we can.

UFC 167

Let me freak out for a bit because I love both fighters and I've been waiting for this fight ever since Hendricks asked for it after knocking out Condit (alright, maybe he's my actual favourite. Let's call it a 3-way tie) a few months back. TUNE IN NOW IF YOU'RE IN MANILA. It airs today, Nov. 17, at 11:30 am.

Bloom Arts '13

In a nutshell, Bloom Arts is a big 'ol gathering where artists, musicians, independent entrepreneurs, and lots of cool people come together to celebrate art. There's a big exhibit where invited artists, as well as newcomers can exhibit their work. Up and coming musicians also get a chance at the spotlight as they perform throughout the night. A mini bazaar simultaneously happens alongside all the merry-making.

This year's Bloom Arts happens TONIGHT, 3pm onwards.

Into The Wild

I love going out of town. It's a good change of pace from the busy and sleepless life in the city. Kicking it back in a place where you can actually see a billboard-free sky is a blessing to me. Traveling completely changes my mood. Maybe it's the clean air. Maybe it's all the green scenery. Maybe it's the fact that I get knocked out almost instantly when placed inside a moving vehicle. (Fun fact: When I was a baby, my dad used to take me out for a couple of car rides around the block to put me to sleep when I'd cry. Think of it as a modern cradle. Today, I hold world record for the sleepiest passenger ever.)

Last October 31, while everyone was prepping to go to the cemetery, I met a couple of cool animals at Avilon Zoo in Montalban, Rizal. It was a bit of a drive with the detours in preparation for All Saints' Day, so I got there a little after lunch. This post is photo-heavy under the cut. I hope it somewhat transports you out of town, or out of your office cubicle at the very least to cure your post-long weekend blues. :)

Instant good vibes!

AirAsia Zest, The Right Way to Fly

If you could go to any place in the world at this very moment, where would you go? Would you hit local shores and kick it right here in the motherland? There's plenty of beautiful sights to see in the Philippines. We do have 7,107 islands after all. Or would you be a little more adventurous and let your curiosity take you to an international destination?

Thanks to AirAsia and Zest Air's new partnership, you don't have to keep dreaming any longer.

Kichitora of Tokyo

It was another eventful Saturday for +Mykee and me. We had a bunch of activities planned for the day. I'll get into that on another post. For breakfast, (well, brunch technically because even though it was noon, it was the first meal of the day for both of us) we wanted to get something nice and warm. It was a rainy day, which meant that the weather was perfect for ramen. Without knowing anything about the place, we headed straight to Kichitora of Tokyo for our fix.

"Arigatou gozaimasu!" said the staff in unison upon entry and exit.
Not gonna lie, I like it when Japanese restaurants do that.
It makes me feel important haha!

Órale! Taqueria Mexicana

Ask me what my favourite Mexican restaurants are, and Órale's sure to shoot up the list. It's been around for two years, give or take. Fairly new, but with a good following to boot. I've heard patrons say that it's as authentic as one can get without having to fly to Mexico for a filling meal.

Yabu: The House of Katsu

Last Saturday was a treat, and I mean that in the most literal sense. My boyfriend +Mykee and I got to go to our first private food tasting. We're suckers for Japanese food. Both of us rate it as our favourite cuisine. So you could imagine just how happy and excited our stomachs were when we found out that we'd be trying out Yabu at Alabang Town before anyone else would.

Waiting for tonight, woah! I've dreamed of this love for so long!

The Dog Spa and Hotel

If there's one thing you have to know about me, it's that I love dogs. There's no other pet that cuddles up to you, greets you with smiles and excited barks, and loves you unconditionally as much as a dog. It doesn't matter how long you've been away or how bad of a day you've had. Your dog will always be there to cheer you up slobber you with kisses when you get home.

Hey, I just met you. No really, I saw this random husky after a day at the gym
and immediately ran up to him for a big hug. :)

Hello

It's been a while since my last blog. Two years, if we're counting. You can find remnants of it over at Everywhere We Eat. I stopped blogging because I had a lot of things to fill up my plate. I graduated school and got my first job as an art director at a big 'ol fancy advertising agency. It took up most of my time. When I had gotten around to getting Instagram, micro-food blogging filled up my friends' feeds, much to their entertainment/dismay.

Fast forward to 2013, I'm now a streetwear designer for a big brand based in the US. And now that I've got a better hold of my schedule, I do believe that I could start posting again. With so many good food joints opening up in the city, and the endless art events going around, it was hard not to write at all.

Hello, my name is Dylan. Thank you for visiting my blog.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
